Milton's Musket Balls Quitl Pattern from Carol Hopkins Designs

Civil War soldiers like Milton had to make enough musket balls to fill their leather pouches before going into each battle. The soldiers used the campfire to melt lead in an iron kettle. Then, long-handled ladles were used to pour the hot liquid into a tool that contained a mold to form the metal balls. During the battle, Milton used gunpowder and rag patches to load and shoot the balls one at a time from his musket.
